Procurement Specialist

The Procurement Specialist will further expand our Qualified Carrier network, develop competitive carrier pricing and capacity, manage carrier performance and internal carrier selection process for different business verticals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for finding dedicated capacity
  • Responsible for building route guides for key customer lanes
  • Strengthen existing carrier partnerships and build new strategic relationships to expand our Qualified Carrier network
  • Help qualify new carriers interested in joining DeSpir’s Qualified Carrier network
  • Streamline quick and efficient processes for carrier qualification and onboarding
  • Responsible for driving Qualified carrier TSA compliance
  • Responsible for ensuring Qualified carriers maintain their driver training compliance with DeSpir’s risk management team
  • Assist the QCs through the levels of qualification
  • Understand DeSpir’s value proposition to carriers and create internal initiatives to generate focus on new carrier partner opportunities 
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to drive efficiencies and companies focus on building out the Qualified Carrier Network
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS or BA degree (SupplyChain/Logistics, Operations), preferred 
  • Must have at least 2 years in Logistics and motor carrier procurement
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating logistics service contracts (transportation, freight 
    forwarding, warehousing, distribution, import/export etc.) 
  • Knowledge of logistics service offerings required 
  • Knowledge of procurement and purchasing procedures required
  • Strong communication, analytical and project management skills a must
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations desired
  • Ability to manage in a multitask role 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills 
  • Demonstrate proficiency composing written communication, proofreading and editing 
  • Resourceful, well-organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail-oriented 
  • Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for travel

Salary range, based on experience is $55,000 - $65,000
